CHIMERA SUMMER CAMP
Chimera Theatre is proud to present three weeks of day-camp programming this summer for ages 7-12! This programming is hosted and taught by Mr. Zack Fernstrom BA, BEd. This year's summer camp takes place at The Effie Arts Collective.
Week 1: Readers Theatre - July 3-7 9:00am-3:00pm - $260
Students will learn the basics of performing for the stage, culminating in a performance of a readers theatre script for an invited audience. They will learn the terminology of theatre, how to properly and effectively use their body and voice for performance, and explore giving life to a character from a script. Readers theatre is an excellent introduction to performing, as it teaches the fundamentals of theatre, while removing the pressure of learning lines!
Week 2: Improv - July 10-14 9:00am-3:00pm - $260
Students will learn the basics of improv and how to create theatre in the moment. They will learn how to effectively listen to their scene partners, and how to create and accept offers within scenes, all culminating in an improv performance for an invited audience! Improv is a valuable skill that can be applied in many ways in life, as well as being a lot of fun!
Week 3: Puppetry - July 17-21 9:00am-3:00pm - $280
Students will learn the basics of puppetry and at the end will go home with their very own puppet. Students will learn how to properly operate an arm and rod puppet, as well as explore other styles of puppetry and how to bring inanimate objects to life, culminating in them creating short skits with their puppets for an invited audience. Puppetry is a fantastic art form that gives anyone the opportunity to explore different and fun characters!
