Bex Binder is a second year student at Thompson Rivers University who found her love of theatre by accidentally joining a class in technical theatre. She has now decided to learn everything possible about theatre production, and has been given the wonderful opportunity to be Chimera Theatre’s Artist-in-Residence. She is also the Assistant to the Technical Coordinator at the TRU Actors Workshop Theatre where she won the TRU AWT Technical Theatre Award in the fall of 2015. Her technical theatre credits include: Assistant Stage Manager for The Untold Tales Of The Brothers Grimm at the 2015 Victoria Fringe Festival (Chimera Theatre), Running Crew for Patience and The Best Of Everything, Lighting Board Operator for As You Like It, and Stage Manager for Heart of Hearing & Traces Of Memory for the 2014 Directors Festival (TRU Actors Workshop Theatre).
Chimera Theatre is committed to the development of emerging artists in every aspect of theatre. To aid local emerging artists in their endeavours, Chimera Theatre offers the opportunity for one artist each year to work and train with our company for a season. The program focuses on helping theatre artists bridge the gap between academia and the professional theatre community.
The Artist Residency Program is designed to develop emerging artists through mentorship and hands-on experience and provide them with training and experience in various aspects of theatre.
