The Audacious Audition Workshop

March 14th, 2015 | 1pm to 4pm
Sahali Centre Mall | #50 945 Columbia Street West, Kamloops

Nervous about auditions? Want to increase your chances of getting cast in a play? Need practice auditioning? Come learn from Kamloops professionals about the dos and don'ts when it comes to auditioning for theatre.

This workshop will be led by three of Kamloops' top theatre professionals. The Co-Artistic Producers of Project X Theatre, Heather Cant and Melissa Thomas, and renowned film and theatre actor Holly Lewis will be joining together to teach about auditioning in today's theatre world. You'll enjoy insightful perspective from both sides of the casting table as well as careful instruction that will enable you to properly prepare for you next big audition. The workshop will conclude with a mock audition for each actor and the instructors will provide individual feedback for each participant.

Those registered will be asked to bring in two contrasting one to two minute contemporary monologues to be reviewed and critiqued by the instructors. Whether or not both monologues are requested is subject to time constraints due to the number of registered participants.

The workshop will take place over three hours with an intermission. Some of the topics that are expected to be covered are: actor etiquette, what to wear to auditions, the theatre industry in British Columbia, selecting you audition pieces, how to warm up for an audition, how to make a good impression, and more!

Cost: $30
