MUSICAL THEATRE with Tracey Power

Learn to sing and dance in this full-day workshop with esteemed actor and theatre creator Tracey Power! The workshop will cover singing and voice, with a focus on musical theatre auditions, as well as dancing as an ensemble. 

 

This eight-hour workshop will give you a crash course in musical theatre. During the class, you will practice musical theatre audition technique with one-on-one coaching to help you prepare for you next big audition. Participants will be asked to prepare one musical theatre song in advance to develop during the workshop. The course will include an ensemble song and dancing section.

 

This is a hands-on workshop is suitable for beginners and intermediates with some experience in performance. The workshop is open to those aged 15 and up and costs $80 per participant.

About Tracey Power

 

Tracey’s work as an actor, playwright, director and choreographer has been seen across Canada and internationally. Locally at Western Canada Theatre, she starred in UBUNTU, The Cape Town Project; Les Miserables; and Christmas Carol for the Caravan Theatre. Her newest work GLORY will premiere in 2018 at Western Canada Theatre and is inspired by the women’s hockey team the Preston Rivulettes.

 

Acting credits include Miss Shakespeare and Urinetown the Musical (Firehall Arts Centre); La Cage Aux Folles (Playhouse Theatre); Blackbird (Citadel Theatre); The Number 14 (Axis Theatre); The Bone House for The Edinburgh Fringe;  I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; The Back Kitchen Release Party (Arts Club); The One That Got Away (The Electric Company); A Midsummer Nights Dream and Henry V (FreeWill Players). Living Shadows, A Story of Mary Pickford, Tracey's self-penned one woman show, toured her to theatres across Canada.  

 

As a director/choreographer: CHELSEA HOTEL, The Songs of Leonard Cohen has been touring since 2012, Singin' in the Rain (Chemainus Theatre Festival) and assistant directed The Marriage of Figaro for the Vancouver Opera. She recently choreographed A Winters Tale for Bard on the Beach, Onegin for the Arts Club and Peter and the Starcatcher for The Citadel Theatre.  

 

Her plays include, Miss Shakespeare, J Caesar (a female adaptation), Garage Alec, The Great Mountain, Back to You, The Life and Music of Lucille Starr, and Living Shadows. She was a co-creator on The Back Kitchen Release Party for The Arts Club and her adaptation of The Jungle Book is published by Samuel French.
