Ever wonder what goes into making a performance happen behind the scenes? Now is your time to learn! Chimera Theatre is hosting a Stage Management workshop that explores the fundamentals of organizing and coordinating a theatrical production.

 

Taught by Skylar Nakazawa, a Canadian Actors’ Equity Association Stage Manager, this three-hour workshop will teach you all the basics you need to know to be a stage manager for theatre. During the class, you will build a solid foundation of organizational skills as you learn about necessary paperwork, formatting documentation and scheduling.  The course will also cover blocking notation, what tools a stage manager needs and helpful tips and tricks from a professional stage manager. No prior experience is necessary.

 

This is a hands-on workshop is suitable for beginners and those with limited experience in stage management. The workshop is open to those aged 15 and up and costs $40 per participant.

About Skylar Nakazawa

 

Skylar is a Canadian Actors’ Equity Association stage manager who has graduated from Thompson Rivers University and completed apprenticeships at Western Canada Theatre and Chemainus Theatre Festival. She has worked with and apprenticed under stage managers from across the country with varying specialties including musical theatre, outdoor festivals, dance, operas, education, residencies, workshops, new works, co-productions, tours, and remounts. Most recently, Skylar completed her sixth summer with Project X Theatre. This past year she was honoured to work on the latest workshop production of Corey Payette's pivotal new Canadian musical and on the Canadian premiere of for Western Canada Theatre. This winter she will be working on and at Western Canada Theatre and Theatre Aquarius.
