ABOUT THE PLAY
In this brand new adaption from Kamloops’ own Dušan Magdolen, the women take centre stage! Follow Diane as she leaves Gascony for the big-city promise of Paris. She disguises herself as a man in an attempt to make her dream of joining the King’s Musketeers come true, but first she’ll have to contend with Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, who may have more in common with her than she could have imagined. This spirited retelling of the classic story features intense romance, raucous drinking, courtly intrigue, and more fights than you can shake a sword at!
ABOUT THE NEW PLAY SERIES
With a commitment to the development of new Canadian plays, Chimera Theatre’s New Play Series will be presenting plays-in-progress by new and emerging playwrights. The selected playwrights will be provided with a chance to workshop their script with actors and a director, and have their play presented in a staged reading. This means an opportunity for playwrights to write, rewrite, experiment, and expand their work while providing audiences with a thrilling and intimate night of theatre.
Now in its third year, the New Play Series will present two newly crafted and workshopped script by local playwrights. After the staged reading of each script, there will be a talk-back session with the playwright, actors, and director about the script and the staged reading.
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Dušan is a local Kamloops playwright, actor, and award winning filmmaker. He is the General Manager of Project X Theatre and is excited to be working on his second play adaptation for the company. X Fest 2016 featured Dušan’s adaption of The Wizard of Oz, and the season was the best attended in the company’s history, so he’s getting another chance for X Fest 2018 with The Three Musketeers. But to make things a little more difficult and exciting, the story is getting a female twist.
Dušan is also the Chair of the Kamloops Film Festival, a Development Director at Thompson Rivers University, and the holder of a BA-Theatre, BBA-Marketing (TRU), and MBA-Strategic Marketing Management (Plymouth State University).
